ARASA seeks two new Trustee Members of the Board

The AIDS and Rights Alliance for Southern Africa (ARASA) has vacancies for the following positions:

  • Trustee Member of the Board and Treasurer
  • Trustee Member of the Board and Chair of the Board
Established in 2002, the AIDS and Rights Alliance for Southern Africa (ARASA) is a regional partnership of 115 non-governmental organisations working together to promote a human rights based response to HIV, TB and sexual and reproductive health in 18 countries in Southern and East Africa through capacity strengthening and advocacy.  We are registered as a non-profit trust in Namibia.

Our secretariat is based in Windhoek, Namibia.  Meetings of our Board of Trustees generally take place once a year in Johannesburg, which serves as a transport hub for the region, and once a year by way of an online meeting. The Board comprises some 8 members with diverse skills and experience. They approve our strategy as well as our annual work plan and budget and are responsible for ensuring that the organisation’s policies are in keeping with its mission.

We are currently looking to fill two vacancies on our Board of Trustees:

We are looking for someone with extensive financial knowledge and experience (Director or CFO level) to become a Trustee on the Board, with the potential to assume the role of Treasurer and Chair of our Finance and Audit Committee.

Professionally you will have significant, recent experience of supervising or leading audit programmes and finance functions as well as experience in risk management and financial oversight as a trustee or director. Personally you will be able to build strong and credible relationships with all stakeholders, including our partners and donors, and to inspire confidence in colleagues and auditors alike.  Your values will align with ours and you will have genuine enthusiasm to help deliver the ARASA strategy.

(2)     TRUSTEE MEMBER OF THE BOARD:

We are looking for someone with extensive experience in governance in the non-profit sector, preferably with experience in the field of health and human rights to become a Trustee on the Board, with the potential to assume the role of Chair of the Board.

This is an exciting time to join ARASA as we embark on the implementation of a new strategic plan for the period 2018-2022 and we look forward to welcoming individuals with the right balance of vision and drive to join us on our continuing journey to help ARASA become more agile, flexible, and responsive to the needs of the communities we serve as well as to the ever changing environment in which we operate.
