The purpose of this manual is to set out information on HIV/AIDS and Human rights, with a focus on Southern Africa, in an accessible and user-friendly format. In this way the manual hopes to:-

  1. provide its readers with a better understanding of the links between HIV/AIDs and human rights;
  2. set out ways in which law and policy can and should promote an effective human righs based response to HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa;
  3. give examples of how Southern African countries have used rights-based law and policy to respond to HIV/AIDS; and
  4. provide readers with ideas on how to strengthen a rights-based response to HIV/AIDS in their own countries and in the region.

The manual is available in English, French and Portuguese.
